Out of an abundance of caution Disney has decided to close its theme parks in the U.S. due to Coronavirus concerns. This comes after having closed Shanghai Disney and Tokyo Disney.
According to Disney both Disneyland and Disney World will be closed until the end of the month. Disneyland will close the parks on March 14 and their hotels will remain open until March 16, giving guests time to arrange travel home. Disney World will close its parks on March 16, but their hotels will remain open until further notice, as will Disney Springs. So if you are staying in Disney Word during the closure it sounds like you can still stay at the hotel, you just won’t be able to visit the theme parks, which kind of defeats the purpose for some people visiting. On the other hand, resort only stays can be fun and I’m sure Disney World will take very good care of all the guests staying at their hotels.
Here are the official announcements from the websites:

Disney World
I’ll keep a lookout for any other information released on the closures and update you. If you have plans to travel to Disneyland or Disney World during the closure periods I would definitely call them. Keep in mind that the wait times on the phone will probably be long. However, if you booked your reservation through a travel agent they will call about your reservation, so you don’t have to. That’s one of the perks of booking through a travel agent.
I’ll keep you posted on any other information that is released! I hope everyone stays healthy!
