Last week I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where it is located. Lots of people knew the location of the pumpkin, so it’s safe to say this is a popular location in the park.
The Mickey pumpkin is located on the Living with the Land ride in Epcot. It’s a fun little feature that Disney has added to the ride. Plus, it’s one of the more unique Hidden Mickeys guests can look for in Disney World. Specifically, the Mickey pumpkin is located with the Cinderella pumpkins on the ride. So make sure to keep a look out for that when you are floating through the greenhouses.
The Ride
Living with the Land is my go-to ride when I am looking to relax while in Epcot. Located on the first floor of the Land Pavilion this ride usually has a low wait time. It’s a nice, slow moving boat ride through Disney’s greenhouses that gives guests a glimpse into our agricultural history and shows where farming is going. There is even a spot on the ride where guests can look up and see part of the Garden Grill Restaurant, a restaurant that slowly rotates past some scenes from Living with the Land.
Disney’s greenhouses are pretty impressive. They use innovative growing techniques, like hydroponics. It’s fun to see some of these techniques as you float past. Another interesting fact is that the foods grown in the greenhouses are used at Sunshine Seasons and the Garden Grill Restaurant.
It’s not just plants that are seen from the ride either. Disney also has live eels, tilapia, catfish, and freshwater shrimp that are seen during different parts of the ride. You may even spot a Hidden Mickey and a Hidden Minnie when you go through one of the areas with fish. Be on the lookout for them!
If you want a better look at these plants and to hear more about them from Disney’s horticulturalists, you can book a Behind the Seeds tour. The tour is one hour and takes guests to the fish farm and to 4 greenhouses. The tour is $29 for adults and children.
Thanks to everyone who played along this week! Have you been on Living with the Land?
Another Where is it Wednesday picture will be soon! Thanks for reading!
