A couple of days ago this long anticipated roller coaster opened to the public. The virtual queue filled up in seconds and the Individual Lightning Lane passes sold out in minutes, which isn’t a surprise.
During my latest visit to Disney World I was lucky enough to experience this new ride during a preview day. My friends and I all got off the ride saying this was our new favorite ride at Disney. If you are a fan of roller coasters I’m pretty sure you’ll feel the same way. It’s an intense ride, but it’s a lot of fun.
As with all the Disney rides, the experience begins the second you enter the queue line. The line wraps around a dimly lit room with a screen on the ceiling. That screen shows different images of space, but it doesn’t just show pictures. At different times it will show videos for guests to watch explaining similarities and differences between Earth and Xandar. Plus there are different things to see while in line. In addition to the screen in the big waiting area, the line twists and turns past other displays in smaller rooms. Guests will see models of cities, spaceships, and outfits in these rooms. The queue line is nice, because so much of it is inside, so guests aren’t forced to stand outside in the heat for long periods of time.
After going through these rooms there are a few rooms with videos that guests will move through. This is like the rooms that guests go through before getting on the ride for Flight of Passage in Pandora at Animal Kingdom. A warning with one of these rooms though, there is a part that has flashing lights, like strobe lights, so if anyone in your party is sensitive to strobe lights I would either skip this ride or mention it to a cast member. I’m not sure if there is a way to skip this room, but it’s always worth asking.
Once through these last rooms, guests are ready to board the ride vehicles and help the Guardians of the Galaxy save the universe (again, as Rocket would say). Once the ride begins guests are in for a fast and fun experience. The ride vehicles twist and turn as they pass different scenes. There’s also different music that plays during the ride, so guests don’t know which track they’ll get to hear during their ride.
*Please note that this ride is dark, so if there is anyone in the party that doesn’t like dark rides this would be one for them to skip.
This is a really fun ride for those that love thrill rides. It’s a welcome addition to a park that was in need of more ride options. It’s not surprising at all that the passes for this ride go so quickly. If you like thrill rides, I highly suggest getting a pass for this ride during your EPCOT day. Can’t wait to ride it again!
Have you had the chance to ride Guardians of the Galaxy yet or are you planning to?
Thanks for reading!
