A while ago Disney announced that they would be releasing these MagicBands at some point and people have been waiting for a release date. Today Disney has finally given us a date that these bands will be available.
Guests will be able to purchase these new bands beginning on July 27. There will be over 25 designs available and the cost starts at $34.99. These new bands will pair to smartphones by using the my Disney Experience app, and just like current MagicBands, the MagicBand+ can be used to enter the parks, open Disney Resort hotel doors, connect Disney PhotoPass pictures, and more. There are also some fun features with these new bands, that will add a little magic to Disney trips.
Fab 50 Sculpture Interaction
One of the big features that Disney has discussed is the ability of these bands to interact with the Fab 50 sculptures that are set up in the parks. Guests can take part in the “Disney Fab 50 Quest” and find all of the characters to interact with at all four theme parks. In addition to using the MagicBand+, guests can also use the Play Disney Parks app to collect the sculptures and have some fun in their worlds through an augmented reality feature.
Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters
Star Wars fans can have some fun with MagicBand+ in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The band works as your guide to find virtual bounties hidden across Black Spire Outpost. To help guests know they are on the right path the MagicBand+ will light up and vibrate as guests are searching for these virtual bounties. This is another area where guests can use the augmented realty (AR) feature through the Play Disney Parks app. When using the AR feature guests look through a thermal view to see what, or who, is hiding in the shadows.
Nighttime Spectaculars
MagicBand+ will add a little something extra when watching “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom and “Harmonious” in EPCOT. During these nighttime shows the MagicBand+ will light up and vibrate in sync with the fireworks, visual effects, and the music. In addition to interacting with the nighttime shows, the MagicBand+ also engages when the four theme park icons transform into Beacons of Magic.
