Disney has officially announced closures for Wednesday (September 27) and Thursday (September 28) due to Hurricane Ian. Below is the information they have release so far.
Closures for Sept. 28 and going through Thursday Sept. 29:
- Magic Kingdom
- EPCOT
- Hollywood Studios
- Animal Kingdom
- Typhoon Lagoon (Blizzard Beach is already closed for refurbishment)
- Winter Summerland Miniature Golf
- Fantasia Gardens
- Fairways Miniature Golf
- Grand Floridian Spa will close at noon on Sept. 28
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
- Disney Springs (definitely closed on Sept. 28 and they anticipate it will also be closed on Sept. 29)
- Drawn to Life will be cancelled on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29
Closures for Sept. 28 through Sept. 30:
- Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
Additional Information
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is cancelled for Thursday Sept. 29
- Guests checking in on Sept. 28 must check in by 3 pm. If you need to cancel or reschedule, cancellation fees will be waived.
- Guests checked in by 3pm Wednesday will be asked to shelter in place for the duration of the storm in their hotel room.
- Dining options will be limited
- Characters will not be available in character dining locations for Wednesday and Thursday
- Cancellation policies for dining and other experiences (e.g., Savi’s Workshop, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, etc.) will not be enforced.
- Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Tuesday night after Disney Springs and the theme parks close.
- There will be limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service for guests who have existing breakfast reservations.
- Star Wars: Starcruiser voyages for guests checking in on Sept. 27 and Sept. 29 are cancelled.
- Partially used theme park tickets that were unable to be used due to Hurricane Ian will automatically be extended to be used through Sept. 30, 2023.
Since dining options are going to be limited, I highly recommend getting food from restaurants close to your hotel or from Disney Springs and storing it in your room. Also, since guests are being asked to shelter in place, you can pick up games or puzzles from one of Disney’s shops. Watching tv is an option, but if you want some backups in case anyone gets bored, there are options in the stores.
