Exploring Disney Resorts: Port Orleans Riverside – Royal Guest Room

Port Orleans Riverside is one of Disney’s moderate resorts. Guests can stay in one of the mansion buildings or the backwoods cottage buildings. For a special stay though, you can check out the Royal Guest Rooms.

My friend and I stayed in one of the Royal Guest Rooms during the last trip. Neither one of us had ever stayed at Port Orleans, let alone in a Royal Guest Room. So we were excited to see all the extra cute touches Disney added to these rooms.

The Royal Guest Rooms are located in the mansions of Magnolia Bend. When you enter the room it’s hard to decide where to look first. Everything is pretty impressive. I loved looking at all the details. The story behind the room is that Princess Tiana is welcoming you there and that some of her princess friends have left gifts for those staying in the room. Very cute! Make sure to read the letter that Princess Tiana has left on the table. 

One of the first things I noticed was the curtains. They are a little fancier than curtains in some of the other rooms. Plus, there are some hidden Mickeys mixed in with the design. It’s always fun to spot the Mickeys.

Boardering the room you will see different Disney characters from the different princess movies. Cinderella’s mice and Chip from Beauty and the Beast are just some of the familiar characters you will see when you look up at the border. 

The table and chairs definitely have a royal touch to them too. The chairs were pretty comfortable and the table has the letter from Tiana on it. I don’t usually pay too much attention to the table and chairs in the rooms, but it’s hard not to notice the detail that was put into those chairs. They have a “fancy” look to them. 

Moving around the room you will see the dresser, again a little fancier than dressers in other rooms, and the television is on the dresser. There’s plenty of space on top of the dresser to keep things and if you are staying for a few days, you can take advantage of the drawers in the dresser.

While you are by the dresser, look down. You will notice one of the gifts left by on of the princesses. The Magic Carpet from Jasmine is on the rug!

Next to the dresser is a present from Belle. She’s left the foot-stool dog for Tiana’s guests and it’s super cute! I would say that’s it’s one of my favorite pieces in the room.

The bathroom and vanity area are the same as other studios, the toilet and shower are separate from the vanity. The vanity area has two sinks with two mirrors and an area to hang your clothes. The fun part about the sinks is that the faucets are shaped like the Genie’s lamp. I loved these faucets! Not only do you have the cool faucets, but the countertop is sparkly (like it has been sprinkled with pixie dust). 

Moving around from the vanity area to the two queen size beds. The beds have definitely been given the royal treatment as well. From the throw pillow to the fiber optic fireworks on the headboard, it’s a special touch in the room. The fiber optic fireworks on the headboard are what make it really special. You just press a button on the side of the headboard and you will be treated to a fiber optic fireworks show. This was easily our favorite thing in the room. We liked many of the touches in the room, but the fiber optics are that extra bit of magic you look for when staying in a room like this at Disney World.

Make sure to look all around the room. There are lots of great details in all the pictures and the light fixtures. You’ll see pictures of each princess that has left a gift and a picture of the welcoming princess herself, Princess Tiana. There are also some silhouettes of some of the princes.

There are so many fun details in this room! I’m hoping to plan another stay at this resort in a Royal Guest Room again. We only stayed for one night and I’d really like to spend more time exploring the room and the whole resort.
