It would appear that we finally have an opening date for Rivers of Light. This is the nighttime show in Animal Kingdom that was supposed to start over a year ago, but has been delayed for multiple reasons.
Starting February 17, Rivers of Light will take place on select nights on Discovery River. There is lots of seating available around the lake, so guests will have different view options. Right now, the website is only giving times through June, but more times should be added soon.
The show combines water, sound, and light to take guests Asian jungles, tropical oceans, African savannahs, and North American mountains. The different areas are represented by their animal spirits: the Tiger, Turtle, Elephant, and Owl. Storytelling is also part of the show and it comes in the form of Asian dance, music, song, and shadow puppetry.
FastPasses are available for this show, but keep in mind this is bound to be very popular so don’t wait to get your FastPasses. The show lasts for about 15 minutes and you can find the start time in the Times Guide (available with the park brochures at the park entrance).
In addition to the show, there is also a Rivers of Light Dining Package available. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available and the participating restaurants are Tiffins and Tusker House Restaurant. We’ll post more details on the dining package later today.
I’m very excited that this show is finally starting. I can’t wait to see the floating lotus flowers and all the imagery in the show!
Are you excited for the start of Rivers of Light?
Thanks for reading!
