This week’s featured photo brings us to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Each Disney park has an icon that represents that park. For Epcot it’s Spaceship Earth, for Hollywood Studios is Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, for Magic Kingdom it’s Cinderella Castle (obviously), and for Animal Kingdom it’s The Tree of Life. All the icons are easy to spot in the parks and guests can go inside each of them.
Guests can walk through Cinderella Castle and see the murals. Cinderella’s Royal Table and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique are both located inside the castle and make for a magical experience. Spaceship Earth houses a ride that takes guests on the a journey through the evolution of communication. The ride vehicles actual work there way around the inside of Spaceship Earth. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is home to The Great Movie Ride, which takes guests through Hollywood cinema.
Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life not only houses an attraction, but it also has animals hidden all over the tree. The animals are carvings and are part of the tree. It’s a pretty impressive sight to see in person. In order to see the carvings up close and personal you can take the Discovery Island Trails or go see the It’s Tough be a Bug show, which takes place inside the Tree of Life.
Here are some states, according to Disney’s website:
- The Tree is 145 Feet Tall
- It is 50 Feet at its Base
- There are Over 300 Animal Carvings in the Tree
- Mickey Mouse is on one of the Branches
- At the Base of the Tree Guests can see Flamingos, Lemurs, Tortoises, and Kangaroos
- It’s Tough to be a Bug! 3D Movie is Housed Inside the Tree of Life
- The Tree Comes Alive Each Night with The Tree of Life Awakenings Show
It’s Tough to be a Bug! is one of my favorite 3D shows. There are some special effects that might be scary for little ones, so just keep that in mind if you are traveling with kids. My favorite part is at the end. I’m not going to spoil it for anyone who has not been to the show yet, but the end is pretty funny. I love hearing people’s reactions who are seeing the show for the first time.
Each time we go to Disney we try to find an animal in the tree that we have not seen before. With over 300 to find we’re always seeing something new.
