Just a couple of days ago Disney made the official announcement of when Toy Story Land will be opening. In addition to the opening date other information is now available, include the ride height requirements.
Toy Story Land will have three ride experiences when it opens on June 30, 2018. Two of the rides are new and one is an extremely popular ride that has been open for a while.
Toy Story Mania! opened in May 2008, so it has been open for almost 10 years now. The ride was so popular that Disney added a third track to try to help with wait times. With the opening of Toy Story Land, Toy Story Mania! will now give guests the chance to walk through a new carnival game box to get to the ride.
New Rides
The two new rides have height requirements that follow with other rides that are similar to them. The Slinky Dog Dash coaster will have a height requirement of 38″ and Alien Swirling Saucers will have a height requirement of 32″.
Woody’s Lunch Box
Woody’s Lunch Box does not have a menu available to see yet, but I’m sure they will release more information as the opening date gets closer. One thing we know is that it will accept dining plans.
Park Hours Extended for July
Since the new land is opening at the end of June, Disney has extended the park hours in July. Morning Extra Magic Hours are scheduled for every day of July. That means guests who are staying on property in July can get into Hollywood Studios as early as 7 a.m. If you want to ride both of the new rides then I would highly recommend getting to the park as early as you can.
FastPasses
As far as FastPasses go, nothing has been announced. I’m assuming Slinky Dog Dash will be on the same tier as Toy Story Mania! which will allow guests to only pick one of the attractions for a FastPass. I’m not sure if Alien Swirling Saucers will have a FastPass, but we will keep you updated once we hear official news from Disney.
Preview Times
Something else we have not heard anything about is special preview times prior to the land opening. Before Pandora – The World of Avatar opened Disney had special preview dates for Cast Members and Annual Passholders. Again, once we hear something we will let you know. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they will offer preview times!
Two Entrance/Exit Points
From what is shown on the My Disney Experience app, it looks like there are two paths on either side of the new land for guests to use. They did this with Pandora – The World of Avatar as well. There is one path that is the main entrance point and then there is another path on the other side that takes guests to the Festival of the Lion King area. Having two paths is very helpful for funneling guests in and out, especially during the first few months when it’s crazy busy.
Toy Story Land looks so cute and I can’t wait for it to open! Given that the first Toy Story movie came out in 1995, I think there are just as many adults as there are kids that are excited to see this expansion. While I am excited to experience the rides, I’m really excited to walk around and see the details that Disney put into the land.
What are you most excited to see when Toy Story Land opens?
Thanks for reading!

My trip is Tuesday June 12th to June 19th 2018. Is there any chance for a soft opening where I can get my daughter to her favorite world , toy story land?! I am so devestated they said they are waiting til June 30th. I am about to see if I can change dates for the first week of July instead. What do you suggest.
Hi Sarah!
When they opened Pandora – The World of Avatar last year they had Passholder previews a couple of weeks before it opened and the day before they had a soft opening. Anything is possible, but there’s no guarantee that they are even going to have preview times. Keeping my fingers crossed though. You try to change the dates, but keep in mind that July will be busy in the parks especially around July 4.
