Last week I stayed at Coronado Springs, making this my second stay at this resort. My first stay last year left a bit to be desired, so I wanted to give the resort a second chance.
During my first stay the room was the biggest issue. It didn’t feel clean, even after mousekeeping came in. This time, I was able to get a refurbed room and it felt very clean. I really liked the room and love that they took the carpet out. It helps the room for more clean and fresh than it did before. Plus, while the construction is going on they leave construction pins in your room. The pins are really cute!
The biggest issue for me this time around was the construction. There was a little construction last year when I visited, but this time around it was definitely more intense. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot it was clear that this resort was undergoing construction.
The most prominent part of the construction is the new 15-story tower and it can be seen from anywhere around Lago Dorado. It looks like they have finished with the height of the building and are now starting on enclosing it and working on the interior.
In addition to the 15-story tower, there is other construction going on around Lago Dorado. You can’t miss any of the cranes, that’s for sure. There is also a bridge going down the middle of the lake, but it’s not open to guests.
The construction is scheduled to last into early 2019. Plus, Disney just added the Dig Site to the refurb list. The Dig Site is where the feature pool and the arcade are located. The refurb starts in September and lasts until mid-December 2018. Guests staying at the hotel will have to use the quiet pools during the refurb.
The Pepper Market also has some minor refurb work going on right now. Guests can still dine there, but just be aware that there is some construction. For instance, when I was there last week there was a covering over part of the fountain drink area. You could still get to it, but it looks like they are planning to freshen up areas of the food court.
If you are thinking of booking Coronado Springs for you next trip, and your dates fall into the construction period, I would seriously think about how much the construction would bother you. I was down for business and wasn’t around the resort too much, but that’s not the case for most people. If you think the construction would bother you then I would consider booking one of the Port Orleans Resorts, because the Caribbean Beach Resort also has a lot of construction going on right now.
Have you been to Coronado Springs lately? Would you stay there with all the construction going on?
Thanks for reading!

We’ll be there the first week of December. Didn’t realize how extensice the construction would be! But we book with cast member friends and family, so the resort options available with the discount were limited. Last year we stayed at Caribbean Beach resort during their construction, lol. Must be a trend for us!
