Main Street Wishes, along with our friends at Bit3 Computing, have created a fun and helpful countdown app for your Disney World trip. It’s call Countdown for Disney. Just look for the light blue icon of the family watching fireworks.
Right now the app is only available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
You can download it for free and make the in app purchase for additional features, if you wish.
Ad supported features:
- Set your countdown date for your trip
- Choice of 15 different Disney World backgrounds
- Add your own pictures
- Delete pictures
- Ability to randomize the background pictures
- Today widget
- A 7 day forecast of the weather at Disney World with radar image map
- A 16 day historical forecast of the weather starting from your trip date for the previous year
- A slideshow option to display the background images
- Select image refresh rate and which images are used in the slideshow
- Option to turn off countdown widget during slideshow
- Disney News feed from mainstreetwishes.com
- Share your countdown image to popular social sites
- Today Widget (does not require app to run in the background)

All the pictures that are available for the background were taken by Main Street Wishes and there are even pictures of things that have disappeared from Disney World. We have pictures of the Sorcerer’s Hat, Mickey’s house in Toontown (now New Fantasyland), and the waterfall that used to be in the lobby of the Polynesian available as background choices.
You can use this app for a trip that you have already booked or even for a trip you are just dreaming about at the moment. Either way it’s fun to have a Disney countdown on your phone!
If you’re like me, you love to look at Disney pictures and that’s why I have mine set to randomize 
Another suggestion for a background photo is you can take a picture of yourself or your kids in your favorite Disney gear. That would be a fun background picture!

I purchased the full version of the app to install on my iphone and love it! However when I installed it on my ipad, it wanted me to purchase the full version again. Is there a way to sign in to the app to somehow let it know that I already purchased the full version?

Thank you for downloading the app! I’m so glad you love it 🙂 If you click on purchase, it should give you a few options. One of those options should be “restore purchase.” Click on “restore purchase” and you should be all set.

Hello – I downloaded your app for the Disney Countdown on my iphone. It shows that I have 60 messages and I have no idea where to access them. I’ve looked at all the pages, that I can see and have no idea where to look. Please let me know and thank you.

Are you talking about the badge count? That represents the number of days until you go to Disney. Are you 60 days out? If that’s not it, please feel free to email me at liz@mainstreetwishes.com so we can figure out what’s going on.

Yes, the Android version should be done soon. We just got another update on it and it looks to be about 60% done. So hopefully by the end of this month/beginning of next month it will be done.

You have to swipe right to get to the main menu, which is where you can set the date. The Android version is still in the testing phase, but once it is officially released we are going to include a popup instruction to get to the main menu when you first run the app.

Was nice that i down loaded the app,pd for upgrade, tried to get it to load for a while, only to Google the probl n find out its not for ANDROIDS .qould have been nice to know up front so i wouldn’t have wasted my time.

The app is available for Androids and can be found in the Play Store. If you downloaded it and paid for the .99 upgrade then you should have gotten the upgrade features. If you’re not seeing the features we always recommend shutting the app down completely and if that doesn’t work then go to the menu, choose purchase and there should be an option to restore purchase. You won’t have to repurchase. If that doesn’t work please email me, liz@mainstreetwishes.com, so I can contact the developer.

Can you set the countdown as your wallpaper to see it without opening the app?

Do you have an Apple or Android phone? Apple does not allow for that feature at this time. For Android phones, the full version allows you to put the widget on your screen so you can see the countdown without going into the app.
What happened to the android verison?? I paid for a full upgrade and after my trip I deleted the app I an going again an went to download it and cant even find the app in the app store??
