Disney has been hard at work on a new transportation option for guests. If you have been to Disney World in the past year or so, there’s no way you missed the Skyliner construction that has been going on.
It’s no surprise that guests are excited about this new transportation option. It seems as though Disney World gets more crowded every year, so this will (hopefully) help alleviate some of the crowds on the buses. Those buses can get crowded, especially at night.
The Disney Skyliner will not be available at every park or Disney Resort hotel. Guests staying at Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and the still-under-construction Disney’s Riviera Resort (a Disney Vacation Club Resort) will have access to the Skyliner at their hotels. Epcot and Hollywood Studios will also be connected by the Skyliner. You can’t miss the Skyliner towers that have been up for months now. You can see them in each area where the Skyliner will drop off and pick up guests.
Check out Disney’s video below with some facts about the Disney Skyliner.
In an article on Disney Parks Blog, it is mentioned that over the next several months guests will see cables being installed. So, it’s looking good for a 2019 opening, but no official opening date has been announced.
Are you excited for the Disney Skyliner to open?
Thanks for reading!

To be honest I am not excited about it, I think I’d rather stay on the ground, but my thoughts may change as things move along.
Are these big enough for families with baby strollers, etc?
Don’t know if I like being stuck in the air every time it stops to load and unload, but that is just me.
We are planning on coming in 2021 to help Disney World celebrate their 50th anniversary…maybe I will try it then.
Hi Debbie!
I’m sure they will be able to accommodate strollers. I found a video on YouTube from the company who is making the cars for the SkyLiner and, if it is set up in the same way, it doesn’t look like the cars actually stop to let people on, they just slow down. So it’s kind of like the Haunted Mansion or The Seas with Nemo & Friends ride vehicles loading areas. Here’s the link for the video if you are interested: https://youtu.be/9dd–wAKPmI?t=194
