Disney has only been accepting new reservations that begin on July 1 and beyond lately. So the speculated opening date of June 1 was looking less and less unlikely. Today that proved to be true.
Disney has started emailing guests with Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland reservations that begin between May 31 and June 6, 2020 stating they need to modify or change their dates. The letter that went out to guests explains that these are “rapidly changing times” and that Disney is focused on the safety of guests and cast members.
Unlike past cancellations, this time no free dining package was offered for Disney World. So I’m not sure if that offer is off the table now or not, but I would definitely ask about it when changing your reservation. However, Disneyland still has an offer for guests who need to change their dates. There’s a $50 per night resort credit for stays between July 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 and a 35% discount for eligible guests on stays most nights July 1, 2020 and October 3, 2020.

There’s still no reopening date for Disney World. As of right now, new reservations can be booked with check-in dates on July 1, 2020 and beyond. However, Disney has said that this is not an indication of an opening date. Hopefully we’ll have a date soon and when Disney makes an official announcement I will definitely post the date.
Have your travel dates been impacted by the closure?
Thanks for reading!

I had heard that Disney already pulled the plug on the free dining offer sometime this past week without announcing it. Dont know if it is a money thing or a capacity thing….we are already re-booked for the end of september and got it done in time to lock in the free dining. I just hope things in the parks are back to normal by then (with maybe less people there than usual).
Glad you were able to get in on the free dining package! I’m not sure why they’re pulling it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a money thing. A lot of people had to rebook, so that’s a lot of free food. I’ll keep my fingers crossed it’s mostly back to normal by the end of September for you!
We are planning a Dec visit to Disney World
Praying they open by then
Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Lori!
