This came as a bit of a shock to a lot of people, but the Disney Vacation Account service has been discontinued by Disney. Details are below, as are the options for those that have accounts.
The Disney Vacation Account was a way for guests to put money aside and save for a Disney vacation (hence the title). Guests could use their account number when in the “Make a Payment” section on Disney’s website and the money would be withdrawn from the account.
Since it has been discontinued, no new accounts can be opened and guests who have existing accounts will be getting their money back in one way or another. Disney has listed four different options of ways for guests to retrieve their money.
Option 1
You can opt to have the money emailed to you in the form of a Disney gift card. All you would have to do is purchase a gift card with your account and Disney will send it to you via email, so you can use it right away.
Option 2
You can book a Disney vacation with the funds you have in the account. Disney has a special offer running now for $899 (price based on 2 adults and 1 child) for 3 nights at All-Star Sports or All-Star Music. Included in the package are 2-day theme park tickets. Book through September 27, 2017. You can contact me for more info and for help booking/planning your trip.
Option 3 & Option 4
You don’t have to do anything. Disney will automatically issue refunds to the initial form of payment after September 27, 2017.
Your last option is to request a refund. This is just like option 3, only you would get the money refunded to the original form of payment sooner.
Guests have through September 27, 2017 to use one of the options. If no actions are taken, the money will just be refunded back to the original form of payment.
Have you ever opened a Disney Vacation Account?
Thanks for reading!

What’s going on with Disney these days. Not all change is good. I wish they would not go so fast.
