Disney has been sharing updates more and more lately as we get closer to the park’s 50th anniversary. One of the more recent updates includes something that seems to be taking the place of Extra Magic Hours.
Starting October 1, guests staying in Disney World Resort hotels and other select hotels will have access to early theme park entry. This sounds like it’s going to be somewhat like morning Extra Magic Hours. The difference is the early entry will be for all the parks, instead of rotating the early entry between parks throughout the week. In addition, there will also be extended evening hours. However, the extended evening hours will be limited to guests staying in Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa hotels. During both the morning and evening extended hours, guests will have access to select attractions, merchandise locations, and food and beverage locations.
During the announcement of the extra hours, Disney also snuck in a hopeful hints about something guests have been asking about for a while now. It was a brief mention, but Disney did say that the Disney Dining Plan will be “back at a later date.” There’s no actual return date yet, but it’s still encouraging. Not sure the free dining promotion will make a return, but we’ll see.
Another update includes the addition of a scene in “Mickey’s PhilharMagic.” This new scene comes from the movie “Coco” and includes the song “Un Poco Loco.” Like other scenes in this 3D show, Donald Duck will make an appearance. The new scene will be added to the shows in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris on July 17 and will be added in Disney World in time for the 50th anniversary.
It’s great to see all these recent updates and reopening dates being announced. And let’s not forget that tonight is the return of the fireworks in both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT!
Thanks for reading!

While I am happy to hear that there may be something replacing the Extra Magic Hours, I am deeply saddened to hear that the extra hours in the evening will limited to only those who can afford to stay in the Deluxe Resorts and Deluxe Villas. I really do not feel like this is how Walt Disney would have wanted his Musketeers treated. I hope I am wrong and it is truly magical for everyone. ❤️❤️❤️
I agree. I’m hoping this is temporary and we’ll see something more like what Extra Magic hours used to be before the pandemic.
I hope they bring the Disney dining plan back I would like to see them give their customers that were booked before the pandemic and had to cancel it but rebooked as soon as they opened a free dining plan
