What do I mean by an “elusive restaurant?” I mean a place that you want to try and you make reservations on multiple different occasions, but can never seem to actually make it there.
I have an elusive Disney restaurant, the Crystal Palace. In all the years that I have been going to Disney World I have always, always wanted to eat breakfast at the Crystal Palace. I love the look of it and meeting the Winnie the Pooh characters would be so much fun. However, at this point, I feel like I am not meant to eat there.
Have you ever seen Gone in Sixty Seconds? Using a term from that movie, the Crystal Palace would be my unicorn. We have made reservations for the Crystal Palace for several of our trips, but have always ended up canceling for one reason or another. Each time we have to cancel I’m disappointed, but I’m hoping that I can remedy this during the next trip.
My plan is to make early breakfast reservations, so I can get a picture in front of the castle with little to no people in the background. There’s a good tip for those that don’t know about early breakfast reservations. Some restaurants in the Magic Kingdom offer early breakfast reservations, usually starting around 8 a.m. If you have the early reservations you are able to get in the park before it opens and take pictures in a nearly empty park. Plus, you will already be in the park when it opens, so you can get in line for rides before everyone else can make it to the back of the park. Lots of bonuses come with early breakfast reservations!
So, do you have a restaurant that you can’t seem to make it to, but really want to try? Share in the comments below! I’m curious which restaurant is your unicorn.
Thanks for reading!

Ohana is my elusive eatery. In past years I have booked it 180 days out but as my children are all grown and our income has shrunk we don’t plan that early out. ☹️
I”m sorry Debra 🙁 I hope you you get to experience Ohana someday!
Still trying to get reservations to Hoop Dee Do and no luck!!!
I feel your pain! That is such a popular dinner show!
My unicorn is at Disneyland. I have wanted to eat at Napa Rose forever. Every time we make reservations something always happens so we have to cancel. One of these days! ……
That’s exactly what happens to me with Crystal Palace! I hope you get to experience Napa Rose someday! We’ll catch the unicorns one of these days 😉
Liz, keep trying for the Crystal Palace breakfast…it is our tradition and even now with teenagers it is a magical way to start the day! It is so pretty, yet a fun atmosphere…this trip (19 mdre days!) will be our first time with an 8 am reservation…can’t wait!
Thanks, Ruth! I am definitely going to keep trying 🙂 I’m glad you and your family have had such great experiences at Crystal Palace. Enjoy the early reservations and pictures in front of the castle with little to no people! Great photo opportunities with an empty park 🙂
These locations are unique and special, which is why they re so popular. They re also classic Disney fans have chosen them over and over again through the years for celebrations and events like proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, and more. Of course, nobody guarantees you a great table for the fireworks, so your best bet is to book a reservation about 1 hour before the show is scheduled to begin, show up early to the restaurant, put in your request for a window or patio table, and wait.
