With each visit to Disney World I like to try new things. There is so much to experience at Disney World, so it’s easy to find new things to try each trip. This time around I decided to try the Fantasmic! Dessert and VIP Viewing Experience.
At $39 (per adult), this is one of the less expensive dessert parties. Most of the other dessert parties range from $69 to $84 dollars per adult. So the fact that it was the least expensive was a definite bonus from the start. Plus, I had not seen Fantasmic! in a while, so I was excited to get a good seat for the show.
Where to Go
Reservations range from 90 minutes to 45 minutes before the show. Arriving early gives guests a chance to make their way up to the area to get their food and drink, find a seat, and eat their goodies before the show. The entrance to Fantasmic! is on Sunset Boulevard, after Beauty and the Beast–Live on Stage. There will be a Cast Member at the entrance to direct you into the correct line. The next Cast Member you see will be next to a FastPass touchpoint and this is where you will scan to get into the party. The touchpoint is also where you will get your credentials from a Cast Member. The credentials are a fun light-up lanyard that says Fantasmic!
The Food
Once you get through the touchpoint area you will make your way to the stand for your food and drink. The Cast Members move quick and have the food and drink distribution down to a quick moving pace, so you won’t be waiting in line long. First you will get your food and a bottle of water, which will be in a bag that says Fantasmic! on it. The bag is pretty durable, so you don’t have to worry about it breaking as you make your way to your seat. After you get your food, the next stop is your drink. Guests have a choice between an alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink. The night I went, the alcoholic drink was a margarita and the nonalcoholic drink was a punch. The punch was on the sweet side, but it was good. There’s a fun aspect about the mug the drink comes in. The mug lights up on the bottom and illuminates your drink, making it a nice souvenir to bring home.
Inside the food container is a decent amount of goodies to snack on. I was a little surprised (in a good way) at the amount of food in the container, to be honest. One piece of advice I have is not to eat too close to when you are going to the party, because you probably won’t be able to finish everything. I made the mistake of having dinner at 50’s Prime Time Cafe beforehand, a little over two hours before the dessert party. Prime Time itself was not the mistake, the food there is always so good and the Cast Members are fun to interact with, I was just already pretty full from dinner there that I couldn’t eat too much.
Here is a rundown of what is in the food container:
- Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- Chocolate Mouse – Served with crispy pearls on top and a white chocolate coin with Sorcerer Mickey on it.
- Evil Queen’s Apple Cake – Topped with oatmeal crisp.
- Ursula’s Cheesecake – This is toped with strawberry pearls.
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownie
- Passion Fruit and Mango Macarons
- Mini Babybel Snack Cheese
- Crackers
- Grapes
If you are attending this dessert party with kids their dessert containers will be a little different. They get Build-Your-Own Worms ‘n’ Dirt, Sorcerer Mickey’s Vanilla Cake, Colors of the Wind Confetti Popcorn, and Red Seedless Grapes.
I ended up saving a lot of the food and putting it in the fridge in my room. Everything in the food container was delicious, including the fruit. I don’t usually expect the fruit to be good when it’s served en masse like this, but the strawberries and the grapes had a great flavor to them.
Seating for the Show
There is a decent sized section in the middle for dessert party guests. There were other guests in this section with no food containers, so I believe this section is shared with dining package guests and/or FastPass guests. As long as you get to the theater early enough you should have your pick of seats. I arrived at the entrance a little after 6:30 p.m. for an 8 p.m. show and was able to sit pretty much anywhere I wanted. Keep in mind they ask you to move all the way to the end of the row, just like in any of the indoor shows you see. I was seated at the end of a row (I believe it was row 6) and I was happy with my view, so don’t worry about not being in the middle of the row.
Other Details
- Cost: $39 per adult (tax included) and $19 per child (tax inlcuded).
- Arrive 90 minutes to 45 minutes before the show. (Check showtimes)
- Separate theme park admission is required.
- Disney Dining Plan credits cannot be used for this experience.
- Seating is first-come, first-served.
Something else that you get is a card with descriptions of each food item on one side and on the other side are fun facts about Fantasmic!, which I found interesting.
So, is this dessert party worth the money? I think it is. You get a decent amount of food (good food), a souvenir mug, a light-up credential souvenir, and a good seat to watch the show. I’ve done one other dessert party and I wasn’t terribly impressed with the food, but I thought all the food included with this party was really good, there was no bland food in the container. So I will definitely be recommending this party to family, friends, and clients!

Great review. My wife and I are going for her b-day in January and also have res at Prime Time. Is there any way for only 1 of us to do the dessert party and still sit together so we can share?
Thanks, Rob! Unfortunately, you would both have to sign up for the dessert party. The reserved area is roped off and you need the credentials to get into it. I’m pretty sure the section is shared with people who purchased the dining package and/or those that had FastPasses. If only one of you purchases the dessert party then the other person would have to sit in a different section. You can see if you can switch your reservations to earlier, if you want. I would give yourself at least 4-5 hours in between eating a full meal and the dessert party, because there is a decent amount of food in the container.
