This is one of the most popular questions asked, but the answer can vary depending on the person.
Some people prefer to wear sneakers, others prefer sandals or flip flops. It really depends on what is comfortable for you and how much time you will be spending in the parks. If sneakers are what’s most comfortable then I would stick with those, especially for a long park day. However, if you can walk for hours in sandals or flip flops with little or no pain, then you’ll probably be okay in the parks with those.
Keep in mind that even if you are spending a full day in the park there are places to sit. Plus, you will be sitting for any meals that you have during the day. Stopping to have meals, even if it’s just quick service, is a good way to give your feet a bit of a break.
I usually wear my New Balance sneakers on my trips. I save the flip flops for around the hotel/pool and will wear nicer shoes if we make reservations at a nice restaurant. The New Balance sneakers have arch support, which is something I need, so it definitely helps with comfort in the parks for me.
Some people will swear by Crocs, saying they are the most comfortable shoes. I do think it’s good to have shoes that breath, especially for those longer days. My sneakers have a thinner fabric around the top of the foot, which allows for more breathing than other sneakers I have worn.
Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing your footwear for Disney World:
- Wear shoes that you would normally wear for walking long distances.
- Try to get shoes that breath.
- You can wear the most comfortable shoes, but if you are spending all day in the parks your feet will probably hurt.
- Take breaks during the day and let your feet rest.
