A while back, Disney had announced a new interactive MagicBand would be released. Today, Disney gave some insight into when it will be available and also discussed a new digital voice assistant.
MagicBand+
Disney has stated that the MagicBand+ will be available this summer. No actual release date has been given for the launch, Disney is just saying “launching this summer.” MagicBand+ is an upgraded MagicBand that will be interactive experience. For example, the 50th Anniversary statues in the parks can be scanned by these bands and guests can interact with them with the “Disney Fab 50 Quest.” The bands also work with the Play Disney Parks app, allowing guests to keep track of the different sculptures they have found. Digital achievements and an augmented reality option are features that will be available with these new bands, as well.
In Hollywood Studios guests can join the “Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters” in Galaxy’s Edge. That band interacts in Galaxy’s Edge by vibrating and lighting up to let guests know they are on the right path. When guests finish the mission a guild master will give a reward in the form of galactic credits. An augmented reality (AR) feature will be available for this, as well. The AR feature will be used through the Play Disney Parks app and the thermal viewer will show what is behind some locked doors in Black Spire Outpost so guests can find their virtual bounty.
Another cool feature of MagicBand+ involves the nighttime spectaculars. According to Disney, these bands will light up along with the shows. They didn’t specify which shows or if it’s all the nighttime spectaculars, so I would assume it goes along with any of the nighttime shows that are currently taking place.
Get ready to interact with Disney magic in all new ways!⌚✨This summer, @WaltDisneyWorld is launching MagicBand+ and “Hey Disney!”, a digital voice assistant, later this year. See how your visits will be enhanced: https://t.co/ZgrJiJWLXg #DisneyWorld50 pic.twitter.com/VLoYLaABJw

“Hey Disney!”
This new feature will be available later this year on supported Amazon Echo devices. By saying “Hey Disney!” users will be able to ask questions, get weather forecasts, set timers and alarms, and more. The answers and responses will come from different Disney characters. In addition to having this in the home, select Disney Resort hotels will also have this feature available to use for guests. With this feature, guests will be about to get helpful information about their vacation, order room amenities, and more. Some helpful information that will be available through this are things like finding out when buses are leaving and requesting towels, just by saying “Hey Disney!”
Disney has not given an exact date of when this will be available either, the only timeframe right now is “later this year.” This feature will be complimentary at the Disney Resort hotels and will be available for purchase through the Alexa Skills store for guests who want this feature on their personal devices.
Are you excited for MagicBand+ and “Hey Disney!” to be released?
Thanks for reading!

Hello Liz, I love all things Disney World too. I brought all of my kids there several times . My youngest son and I were there together in 2012. I’m coming this month by myself and hope to share some memories with a few friendly Disney World lovers.
