Disney offers many different experiences that guests can pay extra to try. Sometimes the experiences are worth it and sometimes it can feel as though you wasted your money (I’m looking at you Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! Dessert Party). So is the Disney After Hours event worth it or should you save your money?
I experienced Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom on June 28. What is Disney After Hours? It’s a special ticketed event, but the amount of tickets available is very limited. The whole idea is that the park should feel close to empty for the people who have purchased tickets and Disney does a great job with this.
I can’t say enough good things about Disney After Hours. All the rides that were open were walk on, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I rode Seven Dwarfs Mine Train twice in less than half an hour! Twice! That is unheard of for that ride. It’s usually hard to get in one ride on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in less than half an hour, let alone two rides. People would get off the ride and go right back through the entrance. It was awesome and that was the experience for every single ride I went on that night. I never waited in line for anything.

This was definitely one of the best experiences I have had on property. Being able to walk onto all the rides was amazing and the energy was great. All the guests and Cast Members were having so much fun. One Cast Member commented on how much he loved this event because everyone was smiling and having a great time.
Plus, you never know what you are going to see that late at night in Magic Kingdom. I have always heard about the cats Disney has in the parks to control the mice situation, but I’ve never seen them. Not until the After Hours event that is. There was no one in the section of Tomorrowland by the Carousel of Progress and as I got closer to one of the benches I noticed a black cat sitting on the bench. It was very cute, but I obviously spooked it because it didn’t take long for it to run back to the bushes.
This was a great event and I would love to attend one in the future with my family. I’m not sure the kids would make it that late yet, but it would be a fun date night with my husband!
I would absolutely recommend this event to anyone who is thinking about trying it. Yes, the cost can be expensive for an entire family, but if you are only going for the party and not entering Magic Kingdom before 7 pm then the event ticket is your park ticket. You do not have to purchase a separate park ticket for everyone in your family. Plus, food and drinks from the carts are included in the admission. If you are thinking about trying it I say go for it! It was so much fun!
Have you ever attended a Disney After Hours event? What did you think?
Thanks for reading!

Do you know if they have dates in November yet?
Hi Robert! I have not seen any dates for November yet. I’m not sure if they are going to do more this year, but I’ll keep a lookout for them. 🙂
Awesome!!!!!!!
We tried to get tickets for the Epcot after hours party (complimentary for Vaction Club members) but they were sold out just hours after they opened the ticket sales. You mention getting in day of the event. I did not know this was possible. Can you provide more information?
Thank you so much!
Hi Rosa!
I know they sell same day tickets, but that’s only if tickets are still available. It depends on how popular the date is that you want to go. Since the number of tickets sold is limited so much, I wouldn’t wait until the day of to get tickets.
