While in Disney World I made sure to catch the new projection show that happens at Hollywood Studios. It’s called Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! and it’s a definite “don’t miss” if you are visiting Disney World anytime soon.
The premise of the show is that Santa Claus is missing. So the elves from Prep & Landing are on a mission to find the big guy before Christmas. It lasts about 15 minutes (give or take a minute) and guests are treated to scenes from lots of Disney classics while the elves search for Santa.
Here are some of the movies that appear in the show:
- Inside Out
- Nightmare Before Christmas
- Bambi
- Cinderella
- Sleeping Beauty
- Toy Story
- Finding Nemo
- and More
Not only are the projections pretty cool, but there are fireworks and lasers too. At points during the show it feels like you are surrounded by the fireworks and it gave me chills. The fireworks go off periodically throughout the show and end with a pretty spectacular finale. Disney knows how to put on a fireworks show, that’s for sure.
Another cool part is that snow starts falling during and at the end of the show. Just on Main Street U.S.A. for the Christmas party, snow falls on the crowd as they watch the projection show. It’s pretty amazing and just adds to the overall wonderful experience.
The night I went, the show started at 6:45. The show starts 15 minutes before the park closes, so know what time Hollywood Studio closes the day you go and you’ll be able to tell when the show starts. Of course, the showtime will also be on the park’s schedule for the day, which can be picked up at the entrance right next to the park map.
Here are some tips:
- If you are planning on staying for Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! then I highly recommend getting there no later than 15 minutes before the show starts, but if you can I would get there even earlier. Since the show was starting at 6:45 I wandered over to the Chinese Theater around 6:10/6:15 and there was already a huge crowd in front of the theater.
- There is no seating, so come prepared to stand for a while. Since the show is right in front of the Chinese theater there is nowhere to put seats. People sat on the ground until it was ready to start, but once the show starts you will have to stand.
- If you are going on a night when the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! Holiday Party is taking place, then don’t get too comfortable. Unless you are way in the back you will probably have to move. I was a little closer to the front and we were told that when the partygoers come out from the dessert party we had to move up closer to the front. The reason for this is that people who purchase tickets for the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! Holiday Party also get VIP viewing for the show and they are put right in the middle. Keep that in mind when picking your spot.
Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! runs every night until December 31 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show is included in the price of admission, but the dessert party is not. If you want to experience the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! Holiday Party you will have to buy a separate ticket for it, but theme park admission is still needed even with the dessert party ticket.
Take a look at the show below. It was a very fun experience!
