Disney has been increasing security measures at the parks and in other areas on property, like Disney Springs. It looks like they are set to get even more law enforcement.
According to News 6 (clickorlando.com), Reedy Creek has given the okay to increase spending to hire sheriff’s deputies from Orange County for Disney World. The total approved budget to hire outside law enforcement is $15.8 million dollars.
Reedy Creek Improvement District is the governing jurisdiction for Walt Disney World, which is why they are the ones approving the budget. Disney World also hires deputies themselves, but does not have to disclose what they spend like Reedy Creek does.
Disney has already been increasing security to keep guests safe. So, it’s not really a surprise that they are making an increase in the number of law enforcement that is on property.
The increase in law enforcement on property can make Disney World feel less magical. However, others prefer the added security measures. Keep in mind that while some officers are in uniform and clearly seen, others are not. There are also officers/security in the parks that guests don’t see. Disney takes the safety of their guests seriously.
