Disney updates their My Disney Experience app all the time. Most updates are for bug fixes, but sometimes Disney surprises us with new features added to the app.
The latest update comes with some new features and a new way to navigate around the app. There is now a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen with five options to choose from. The five options are “home,” “map,” “add plans,” “search,” and “menu” (which is represented by three lines).
The “menu” option brings you to a screen with more options. You can shop Disney merchandise (brings you to the Shop Disney Parks app), view your photos, place a mobile food order, see your resort hotel reservation info, view tickets and passes, view your profile, get help, and view the privacy and legal information.
The “add plans” option will bring up another list. This list includes the ability to get FastPasses, make dining reservations, use the Mobile Order feature, get tickets, or buy Annual Passes.
The Park Info & Entry section and My Plans section are still the same. The only difference is your character icon does not appear on that screen anymore. Instead, the character icon appears on the menu screen.
Another new feature is the ability to upgrade to an Annual Pass. So if a guest purchases a regular ticket, but decides they want an Annual Pass, the cost of the ticket they purchased can be applied to the cost of an Annual Pass. This can all be done in the app now, which is pretty cool. Disney had already added the ability to renew Annual Passes, so it is nice that this option is now available.
One of the biggest added features is the ability to see bus arrival times at your resort. Disney recently posted about this new feature and explained how it works. You have to have an active Walt Disney World Resort reservation in order for bus times to show in the app and it will appear on the screen with your resort hotel reservation information. If your resort reservation has not started yet you will not be able to see the bus times. Take a look at Disney’s video below to get an idea of how it works.
This is a great addition to the app and will be helpful to those trying to make rope drop or trying to get to a reservation on time. This feature currently only works showing arrival times at the resort where you are staying. It will not show arrival times when you are leaving a park.
I really like the updates to the app. The new features are helpful and I think the navigation is more user friendly now.
What do you think about the latest update?
Thanks for reading!

I was just playing with the new app before coming over here and read the article. It seems like a big improvement in navigation. I did not realize it had bus arrival times. That is awesome! We just went the first week of May, so I have almost a year to wait and try it out at the parks
