Disney releases updates for the My Disney Experience every once in a while. Each time the updates help to make the app more user friendly, which is nice.
The most recent update is no exception, in my opinion. One of the new features is that the app opens right to the resort map. This makes it a little faster to look up attractions, dining options, and more while you are in the park.
Disney has also added a “Spotlight” section which highlights new park experiences and other entertainment offerings. At the time of writing this post, the Shop Disney Parks app was in the “Spotlight” and there was a direct link to the app.
One of the additions I really like is the “My Resort Dashboard.” It allows guests to look up a bunch of different information about the Disney Resort where they are staying. This is a really helpful and useful feature that they added to the app!
Here are some features of the “My Resort Dashboard”:
- See your room number, theme, building, and floor
- Directions to your resort using Disney transportation
- A map that shows the location of your room
- Ability to call the front desk at your hotel with a link in the app
According to Disney, the look and feel of this app is the same as the apps for the other Disney parks around the world. This is especially helpful for those that like to travel and visit all the parks. Having the user experience be the same for all the apps will make it easier when visiting parks in other countries.
Here’s the tutorial video from Disney:
Some other features of the My Disney Experience App:
- Make and modify FastPasses
- Buy tickets
- View park hours
- Buy merchandise
- See your photoPass photos
- Make dining reservations
- Ride wait times
- View your plans
I think the design of this update is more user friendly and makes it easier to find things. I’m glad Disney continues to improve and update the app.
The My Disney Experience is something that I make sure my clients download before their trip. This app is extremely helpful when you are in the park and I wouldn’t recommend doing a trip to Disney World without it.
Do you use the My Disney Experience app when you are in the parks?
