Picture of the Day: Fireworks from California Grill

Today’s Picture of the Day comes from the California Grill.

This restaurant is one of our favorites for many reasons. The food is delicious, the decor is very nice, and it has amazing views of the Magic Kingdom. However, our favorite reason is the observation deck where you can watch the Wishes fireworks show from and it is right outside the restaurant.

California Grill is one of Disney World’s signature restaurants. It is located on the 15th floor of the Contemporary Resort. This restaurant may have the best entrance, because you arrive by private elevator. The kids loved taking an elevator that took them directly to the restaurant; it’s a very nice touch.

When you enter the restaurant you will immediately see the huge windows that allow diners to see the Magic Kingdom and Seven Seas Lagoon. It is a beautiful sight during the day, but just wait until the sun starts to set; it is stunning.

The food was excellent too. We all enjoyed our meals. The kids even finished what was on their plates! All the kids sat right by the window, so they were very happy being able to look at Cinderella Castle while they ate (that might have helped with the clearing of the plates). We finished our meals with a bit of time to spare before the fireworks started, so we did the monorail loop with the kids to take up some time. When it was time to go back for the fireworks, we brought our receipt from dinner and headed back up on the elevator. It’s nice that they allow everyone who has eaten in the restaurant that night to return for the fireworks.

Then came the best part; fireworks from the observation deck. This was amazing. The restaurant has the narration piped in, so you don’t miss anything and if you have kids that are sensitive to sound the fireworks are far enough away where they should be okay. Plus, it wasn’t crowded. We could move freely and there wasn’t anyone trying to push us out of the way. It was a really nice and relaxing way to watch Wishes.

Loved our experience at California Grill and can’t wait to return!
