I’ll be honest, I’ve been waiting for an opening date for this restaurant for a while. I was starting to think it would never reopen, so I’m glad we finally have a reopening date.
Disney recently announced that 1900 Park Fare will reopen on April 10. This is one of the last holdouts for reopening after the pandemic initially shut everything down. There will be some changes to the character lineup, so those that have visited in the past will notice that the characters are different, except for Cinderella.
Before the shutdown, the characters at 1900 Park Fare were different for breakfast and dinner. Alice and the Mad Hatter were among the characters meeting for breakfast, and Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and the stepsisters would meet guests for dinner. Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters were always funny to talk too, so it’s a little disappointing that they are not returning to the restaurant to meet guests.
New Character Lineup for 1900 Park Fare
- Aladdin (in his Prince Ali outfit)
- Cinderella
- Mirabel
- Tiana (in her new look for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure)
The idea is these characters are celebrating the power of a wish with the guests joining them at the restaurant. So these four characters definitely fit that theme, and it will be nice to have at least one spot where guests can meet Mirabel.
The Menu
The menu sounds like it is going to be a combination of items from the old menu and some new things Disney chefs are working on adding. Disney did say there would be favorites returning (like the strawberry soup), which is good, but we’ll have to wait to see everything that’s returning, because the new menu has not been released yet. A lot of guests (myself included) enjoyed the variety that was available at this buffet, so hopefully there will still be a good variety of types of food to choose from when they reopen.
Decor
Guests can expect to see the same carousel theming throughout the restaurant. Disney is even including this theme in the mural that will be placed near the entrance. In different dining rooms in the restaurant the carousel theme is also shown through pictures of carousel animals that are inspired by Disney movies like “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Little Mermaid.”
Also included it the decor is Big Bertha, an antique organ that has been at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa since 1988. Guests will now see Big Bertha in 1900 Park Fare, as she will be on display as the restaurant’s grand centerpiece.
Other Information
While the restaurant reopens on April 10, guests can start making reservations on March 5, which means we should (hopefully) have an updated menu by then. For those that are planning to purchase or have already purchased the Disney Dining Plan and have the Table Service Dining Plan, this restaurant counts as 1 Table-Service Meal.
Are you excited for the return of 1900 Park Fare?
