This week’s Snackshot takes us to Satu’li Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom.
Satu’li Canteen is the quick service location in the Pandora area. The design of it fits in perfectly with its surroundings. The idea is that it used to be a mess hall, but is now decorated with Na’vi art and cultural items. It’s definitely worth taking a look around the dining area when you eat there. There is quite a bit to see and it helps to continue the feeling that you are in Pandora.
The Snackshot photo this week is of the slow-roasted sliced grilled beef bowl. This is my go-to meal when I have dinner at Satu’li Canteen and it’s been delicious every time I’ve had it. In fact, writing about it now is making me crave it for lunch or dinner. Plus, I love the fact that you get to basically build your own meal.
I’ll explain. The bowls at Satu’li Canteen allow you to pick a protein, a base, and a sauce. So you basically get to build your own meal, which nice. The protein choices are grilled beef, wood-grilled chicken, chili-garlic shrimp, and tofu. For the base you can choose between noodles, rice and black beens, red and sweet potato hash, mixed whole grain and rice, and a hearty salad. The choices of sauce are charred green onion vinaigrette, black bean vinaigrette, and creamy herb dressing. You can also choose to omit the base or the sauce if none of the choices appeal to you.
For my bowl I always choose the grilled beef, the red and sweet potato hash, and the charred green onion vinaigrette. As I said above, I have never been disappointed by this meal. Everything always tastes very good, including the sliced grilled beef. The beef is cooked just right, at least it has been for me when I eat here. Sometimes things like that can be a little iffy with quick service, but I’m always happy with this bowl. I’d definitely recommend trying this meal the next time you are at Satu’li Canteen.
The cost of the slow-roasted sliced grilled beef bowl is $13.99. They give you a good amount of food, so the price is better for what you get than some other places on Disney World property. I never leave hungry, that’s for sure. Satu’li Canteen also offers mobile ordering as well. In fact, they were the first quick service to offer mobile order, so they probably have it down pretty well by now. Look under the Mobile Order section on the My Disney Experience app and you can order right from the app.
Hope you enjoyed this week’s Saturday Snackshot!
