Disney has been doing a lot of tightening of their security recently. With everything that has been going on in the world, it’s no surprise that they would want to do this in an effort to keep their guests safer.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney World has been busy tightening their gun polices and they will also be adding sheriff’s deputies to patrol on horseback. Reviewing their security procedures is something they do often, as Disney spokeswoman, Andrea Finger, tells the Orlando Sentinel:
“We have a comprehensive approach to security and continuously review our security procedures in collaboration with law enforcement,” Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said in an emailed statement Wednesday.
The deputies are expected to start as soon as next month patrolling Disney Springs. This is no surprise, considering the brawl that happened in Disney Springs on Christmas night. Guests were in a panic as rumors of a shooting were being spread throughout the dining and entertainment location.
The Orlando Sentinel also reports that Disney is no longer allowing guests to check guns with security. They have changed the process, but did not elaborate.
Disney has also announced that they will discontinue the sale of toy guns on property and guests 14 and up are banned from wearing costumes.
