One of the newest refurbishments at Disney World included the addition of Disney Vacation Club (DVC) rooms to a building and labeling them Resort Studio rooms. The rooms are beautiful and I would recommend a stay here to anyone.
The Resort Studio rooms are in their own outer building, away from the main building, in the Big Pine Key building. While this building is a DVC building, anyone can book the room, as long as there is availability. The option to book is on the website, so you do not have to do anything different to book a DVC room, which is nice. Our room was a Lagoon View room, so we were able to see the water, and one night we sat outside and saw the electrical parade pass by, which was fun. We waved at the cast members driving the floats and a couple of them turned the floats back on as they passed by our room.
The location of the resort is nice, because it’s a Magic Kingdom Resort hotel, so there’s the option of taking the monorail. There is also an option of walking on the new path to Magic Kingdom, but it is a bit longer of a walk than the Contemporary to Magic Kingdom. Using the walkway from Grand Floridian it will take about 15 minutes or so to get to Magic Kingdom, which is pretty much the same as the getting from the EPCOT resorts to Hollywood Studios.
The Room
Now on to the room where we stayed. The Resort Studio rooms (not to be confused with Resort View rooms) were designed with the theme of Mary Poppins in mind. This theme is subtle, but clear at the same time. Once you step into the room, the first thing you will notice are the soft pastel colors of the room. There is a certain calming vibe that comes along with using these colors and I felt that walking into the room. It’s not in-your-face theming, but once you are settled and start looking around the room, the theme of Mary Poppins is quite clear.
One of the first things I noticed was the penguin on the chandelier. All the other birds look the same, but there’s one penguin mixed in. It’s such a cute detail in these rooms! Plus, the glass birds are pretty.
The Mary Poppins theme is also shown on the lampshades, pictures, and behind the coffee maker, where the mini fridge is. The wallpaper behind it shows a scene with Mary.
The other touches to the room, whether it’s the color scheme, furniture, or decorations, give a certain elegance to the room. This room definitely felt fancier than some of the other Disney World rooms where we have stayed.
The Building
Big Pine Key, where the rooms are located, is also very elegantly themed. Many times we walked into the main area of the building to see people sitting on the couches and chairs chatting. It is not a big space, but it has a welcoming feel the way it is laid out and guests definitely took advantage of the seating in the area.
One more feature to point out is the lighting. The lamps and sconces in this building are really nice and go very well with the overall theme of this building.
This resort is beautiful and the Resort Studio rooms do not disappoint. For anyone who has a chance to stay in one of these rooms I highly recommend it. Our stay was wonderful and we all really loved the room.
What do you think of the style of these rooms?
