Today is the day! Disney’s new transportation system, the Disney Skyliner, is officially open to the public!
The gondola system gives guests beautiful views of Disney World and connects four resorts to two of the theme parks. Caribbean Beach, Riviera Resort (opening December 2019), Art of Animation, and Pop Century are the four resorts that have Skyliner stations, with Caribbean Beach acting as the main hub where guests can transfer. As you can see from the map below there are five stops; guests staying at Art of Animation and Pop Century share a Skyliner station.
Disney posted a video of the dedication, which you can see below. The gondolas slow down quite a bit while in the station, making it easy for guests to step in and take a seat.
While in the gondolas there are recorded messages that tell guests which station they are headed to and whether they need to transfer. There is also an emergency call box in each cabin. Each cabin fits 10 people, including those in wheelchairs. The above video shows a child in a small stroller and I’m sure a double stroller could fit sideways, you just might not be able to fit as many people on the seats.
There is no air conditioning in the gondolas, but there is cross ventilation in each cabin and the breeze helps keep people cool as they travel along the line. The longest ride is about 15 minutes and the shortest ride is about five minutes. So even if you took the longest route you won’t be in a gondola for that long, but you will get some great views during your ride!
Are you looking forward to riding the Disney Skyliner during your next trip?
Thanks for reading!

I’ve been going there since it open, back in the day they had these but only from tomorrow land to fantasy land.
I remember going in them back in the day too!
