Since TRON opened last year it’s had a virtual queue. However, beginning today the ride dropped the virtual queue and now offers a regular standby line, as well as the Lightning Lane.
Virtual queues are something Disney started using a few years back. It allows guests to sign up on the app for a spot in line for the selected ride. If the guest is successful in nabbing a spot in the virtual queue they will be assigned a boarding group. Once the boarding group is called the guest heads to the ride to get in line. Disney offers a couple of chances for guests to enter the virtual queue, once at 7 am and then again at 1 pm (guests must be in the park at 1 pm when the virtual queue opens). If there are extended hours, then there’s usually an extra virtual queue that opens at 6 pm for those that are staying for the extended hours.
Now that TRON has dropped the virtual queue options guests don’t have to worry about being up early to get in the 7 am virtual queue. Without the virtual queue this will most likely be one of the rides guests head to first thing in the morning when the park opens. So, if you are planning to be at Magic Kingdom for the day and would like to ride TRON I recommend heading there first thing when the park opens or waiting until later in the day a little bit before closing.
Rides that still have the virtual queue option include Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom) and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT).
Have you had a chance to ride TRON yet?
