Time for another Tuesday’s Tip! This week we’ll discuss how to take full advantage of the FastPass system.
FastPasses give guests easier access to rides without having to wait in long lines. While FastPasses for popular rides book up quickly at first, there is still a chance to get more FastPasses while you are in the parks.
When planning your Disney World vacation you are given 3 initial FastPasses for each day of your ticket. If you are staying on Disney World property you can make FastPass reservations 60 days prior to your arrival date. Those that are staying off property can make FastPass reservations 30 days prior to the arrival date.
FastPasses give guests a window of an hour to use each one, so only one can be booked in that hour window. They can be stacked so they’re close together, but they cannot overlap with each other. Once your FastPass window has opened you can head to the FastPass line and scan your MagicBand.
*Tip – You will usually be able to scan your MagicBand five minutes or so before your official FastPass window opens and be able to get in line.
Once you have used all three of your initial FastPasses you can start making more, and this is where the topic of this post comes in. It is possible to use multiple FastPasses during each of your park days and it’s pretty easy.
Getting Multiple FastPasses While in the Parks
The second after you scan your MagicBand for your last FastPass, pull up the FastPass list on the My Disney Experience app. Pick out your next FastPass and grab the time that best works for you. If you don’t see a great time, don’t worry about it, just grab the one that best works for you. While you are waiting in line, select the newest FastPass reservation and choose the option to modify.
Usually, if you keep modifying you can get a time closer to the current time. You can do this each time you get a new FastPass. Each time you scan your MagicBand you should immediately go on the app and grab another FastPass. Doing this will allow you to experience more rides than if you had to wait in a bunch of standby lines.
If you plan on trying this then I would recommend making your initial FastPasses for late morning. Lines for rides when the parks first open are pretty short (minus Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom, that line is always ridiculous), so experience as much as you can until around 10:30 or so, then use your initial FastPasses, and then start getting other FastPasses and modifying them to fit your schedule for the day.
This has always helped us fit more into our day. It’s especially helpful when you have young kids who may not last all day. That was one of my reasons for doing this. The kids were able to meet more characters and experience more rides (some more than once) than they would have had we waited in more standby lines.
Give it a try the next time you are in the parks! I hope it helps you out as much as it has helped us!
Have you tried this during your trips? What’s the most amount of rides you were able to experience in one day by doing this?
Thanks for reading!
