New Year’s Eve can be one of the most crowded days to go to a park. It’s already a very busy time of year, but the idea of spending New Year’s in a Disney Park to ring in the New Year appeals to many guests.
So it’s no surprise that wait times for the popular rides were already up there early this morning. By 9:15 a.m. Flight of Passage was already at a 195 minute wait, Slinky Dog Dash was 140 minutes, Soarin’ was 120 minutes, and Mine Train was 120 minutes as well. Wait times will surely climb as the day goes on.
Looking at Epcot’s wait time I just saw that Living with the Land is at a 55 minute wait! Anytime Living with the Land has any kind of a wait you know it’s a busy day. Test Track reached a 300 minute wait at one point this morning!
(Edit to add the Test Track is now listed as “Temporarily Closed at 11:30 a.m. People have posted pictures of themselves walking off the ride)
There have also been some rides that showed as “Temporarily Closed” for a period of time, but they have since been reopened. Splash Mountain, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Na’vi River Journey, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster were all listed as “Temporarily Closed” earlier, but have all reopened. Test Track is now listed as “Temporarily Closed” and we will update when it shows it is reopened.
If you plan on going to the parks today and you aren’t there yet, I would get there soon. Parks have reached capacity on past New Year’s Eve days. When capacity is reached Disney does not allow anymore guests in, even if you have dining reservations.
(Edit to add that Magic Kingdom is reportedly closed to incoming guests at this time. We will keep you updated as more information about the closure is released.)
I hope everyone who is in the parks today is having fun! I know tensions can run high when the parks are crowded and that’s understandable, but I’m hoping most people are enjoying spending the last day in 2018 in Disney World. It’s not a bad way to ring in the New Year!
