There are different ways to get pixie dust in Disney World. The most common reference is when cast members do something really nice for you. For instance, if you get upgraded to a better room people will say that you got some pixie dust. It’s really nice when that happens, but there is another way to get pixie dust.
When you are in the parks, especially Magic Kingdom, be on the lookout for cast members with wands. Just like the wants that are used in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (BBB). The wands contain “pixie dust” and they will usually ask the kids if they would like some pixie dust. Adults can get the pixie dust too, so don’t be shy about asking.
There are a couple of places we received pixie dust, other than BBB. The first is when we were at the Harmony Barbershop for my son’s first haircut. After Lori, the cast member, was done with my son’s hair she asked my daughter if she would like some pixie dust. So, as long as they are not too busy, you can stop in and ask for some pixie dust.
On a side note, Lori was absolutely wonderful. If you are going to the Harmony Barbershop I highly recommend her. She was so friendly and very patient with our 2 year old. Thank you Lori!
The next place to offer pixie dust was Sir Mickey’s. This shop is located next to Princess Fairytale Hall. The cast members carry the same wands that the Fairy Godmothers in training have at BBB. It was so cute. My daughter was already ecstatic, because she had just met Anna and Elsa, and then she was sprinkled with pixie dust while we were shopping.
On another side note, when you are in Sir Mickey’s look up. You will see Willy the Giant lifting the roof and peeking inside the store. I had only seen pictures before and this was my first time seeing him in person. It was really cute and, honestly, if you aren’t looking for him you might not see him. They did a really good job of having him blend in with the store. Love those Disney touches!
I’m sure there are other places where guest can get sprinkled with pixie dust, but these were the two that we found on this trip. I saw a lot of adults walking around with their hair sparkling, so the pixie dust is for kids of all ages. Just another fun piece of Disney magic that makes the trip extra special!
Thanks for reading!
