Last week I posted the above picture and asked for guesses as to where it is located. There were some great guesses, but this one was a little hard to locate.
The name in the picture is located at the BoardWalk Inn resort, but to be fair it’s a bit hidden. Specifically, the name is located on the back a nanny chair in the lobby. What are nanny chairs? Well, to start they’re pretty creepy looking, as most anyone who has seen them in person will say. The chairs were located around carousels in the late 1800s. They were for caretakers to sit on while the children rode the carousel.
The chairs look like jesters with a ruff around the head and the arms on its hips, which makes the back of the chair. The front to legs of the chair are designed to look like the jesters’ legs and feet. The name in the the picture can be found painted on the back of one of the chairs. BoardWalk Inn has two nanny chairs and this is one of the names, the other name is Kiley.
The BoardWalk Inn has some fun stuff to do on the BoardWalk, but there’s also some fun stuff to see in the lobby. The chairs are located near the fireplace and above the fireplace is a replica of the Lucy the Elephant hotel. She was originally built in 1881 in New Jersey and is the country’s oldest roadside attraction. For more information about Lucy visit https://lucytheelephant.org/.
Also in the lobby are what look like paintings of different Disney castles. Each picture of a castle is inside an ornate frame, so gives the appearance that they are from a carousel. In addition there are models of an old wooden roller coaster, as well as a carousel. The carousel sometimes moves, but not all the time, so it depends if you catch it at the right time.
The BoardWalk Inn may not have impressively high ceilings like other Disney hotel lobbies, but it does have details. BoardWalk Inn has become one of my favorite resorts and details like they have in the lobby are one of the reasons why.
Thanks for playing along this week! Another Where is it Wednesday picture will be up soon. Have you visited the BoardWalk Inn lobby?
Thanks for reading!
